What is the Detox diet? Detox means to detoxify, or remove toxins or poisons from the human body. The purpose of Detox is to neutralize and eliminate any compound in the body that can be toxic. Detoxification or Detox is a natural process that happens all the time in the body. But because of the modern diet, the enormous number of chemicals we ingest daily and the increase in chronic degenerative diseases, many people believe that regular induced Detox is necessary.

A Detox diet strengthens the organs involved in the Detoxification process and releases stored toxins, expelling them through the organs of elimination like skin, intestines, liver, lungs, kidneys and lymphatic system. A Detox program may consist of a special diet, nutritional supplements, herbs, hydrotherapy, exercise, breathing techniques and/or sauna.

Detox diets will benefit all those who:

  • eat an unhealthy and unbalanced diet
  • smoke or have a high alcohol or caffeine intake
  • work in a polluted environment
  • have been taking medication for a long time
  • are suffering emotional or physical stress

What is a good Detox diet? It takes time! Therefore any good Detox diet should not be a one-off, one-day attempt to cleanse the system. Please remember, the toxification also did not happen in 1 day. So naturally, the detoxification will also take time. A good Detox diet should work slowly. In fact, it should be sustained for at least one week.

This can be your Detox diet menu plan.

Breakfast: Fresh fruit such as apple, pear, banana, grapes or citrus. After 15-20 minutes take 1 bowl of cooked whole grains, specifically millet, brown rice, amaranth, quinoa, raw buckwheat or buckwheat.

Lunch: 1-2 medium bowls of steamed vegetables. Take roots, stems and greens (e.g. potatoes, yams, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets, asparagus, kale, chard and cabbage.)

Dinner: Should be same as lunch.

At 11 A.M. and 3 P.M.: 1-2 cup of vegetable water, saved from steamed vegetables.

Evening: Herbal tea only, such as peppermint, chamomile or blends.
